Art Rhythm is a unique program of Libera Institute, which represents a synthesis of music and fine art. Art Rhythm is manifested in the form of creative activities, therapeutic sessions and group happenings, in which the people have the opportunity through the language of the rhythm, percussion, colors and forms to work on their spontaneity, creativity, and different medical or other kind of problems.
The meaning of the rhythm can be discovered in nature’s cycles – the tides, the heartbeat, the rotation of the Earth around the Sun, the death and the birth, which happen every day. Every one of us has an individual rhythm – in his/her workplace, in his/her relations. Our participation in this pace of the Universe provides to us periods of excitement and of calmness, of searching and of satisfaction, of In and Yan. That’s why it’s natural to use the rhythm as a mean to unify our internal fragmentation, to organize the chaos inside us and around us, to bring order in the things, which guide us every day.
The rhythm isn’t perceptible only through hearing. The rhythm in the fine art is a visual act. Art Rhythm is created by colors, chiaroscuros, lines which represent movement, forms which create dynamics. A rhythm that can be seen, a rhythm that recreates the world around us.
The colors are represented musically with their saturation. In musical terms it corresponds to the timbre of the voices and the tone sound of the instruments. The art motifs per se are a visual rhythm, created by constantly repeating tones. The textures of the materials create their own “rhythm” through the contrast between melodic, lyric tones and staccato – watercolor, clay, collage.
The variety of expression’s means offered by the program aim to develop the creative abilities of the participants and offer an alternative to deal with many problems of medical, professional or personal nature; the program is very suitable in case of stress, exhaustion, chronic fatigue, mental disorder, and others.
