Martin Ivanov is a Bulgarian composer, conductor, percussionist and researcher who spent 15 years in the USA and Canada following his calling. He graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, Boston (jazz composition and arranging / summa cum laude), University of Memphis and the University of Massachusetts (MA and Ph.D. degrees in fine arts and composition), , Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” (Master of Business Administration.
From 2001 to 2004 Martin taught composition, harmony, arranging and jazz ensembles at the University of Memphis and University of Massachusetts. He has performed and composed for internationally acclaimed artists and orchestras. Having gained invaluable experience abroad he has now returned to his home country to devote his talents and experience to create something indispensable.
On returning to Bulgaria, he founded the Institute of Contemporary Art and Therapy “Libera”. His primary motivation was to use his creative knowledge to create and develop social projects, therapies and to train other people.
Martin Ivanov is the founder of drum / rhythm therapy and facilitation in Bulgaria and Balkans region. He has created many programs including: Rhythmology, Art Rhythm, Corporate Rhythm, Happy Drum (Rhythmology for children), Rhythm Relax. He has organized many rhythm-based social, educational, corporate and therapeutic events based on rhythm, using a wide range of percussion instruments. Martin is REMO endorsed Drum Circle Facilitator.
The positive vibrations of his drums attempt to respond to cries for help and address the need for social support in prisons, psychiatric hospitals, nursing homes, orphanages, day care centers children with disabilities, and oncology clinics.
Martin’s corporate rhythm-based trainings have proved very popular. Clients include global companies such as Microsoft, AVON, HP, Citibank, Shell, Deloitte, Nestlé, Heineken, Carlsberg, Renault Nissan, VMWare, SAP Labs, Bayer, Siemens and Konica Minolta.
Martin Ivanov is a passionate motivational speaker and he uses the language of rhythm as a tool for personal and collective development. He is frequently interviewed on radio and television.
He is an author of Scottish publishing company Findhorn Press. His book Rhythm Alchemy came out on September 9th, 2014. His second book "Sounds of Silence" was premiered in Bulgaria on October 8th, 2014.He is a creator of a new approach of life and business coaching which is called “Rhythm Coaching”. His new book “Quantum Rhythms: The Art of Rhythm Coaching” is coming out soon.
